I read and article about Bollywood by Suketu Mehta. The articel talks about what the author thinks of Bollywood films. I can sense that he like them because he said that him and his friends would walk around siniging Hindu songs from bollywood films. The article also tells a little about what is in a Bollywood film; they are based on ramance ,there are between 5 and 14 songs, and from my prior knowledge they are not allowed to kiss in the films. The movies are ways to show respect to their mothers. Hollywood and Bollywood are very different. Hollywood movies tend to focuzon just about anything there isnt one set in stone way to write a movie and there deosnt have to be sertain things in the movie. In the Bollywood films they are based more on family and have many rules and requirements. I would say that hollywood is a littel more free to what they want with movies.

The articel Indian flood victims face food shortages is about how a flood washed over a villiage in india. the village was called Bihar india and the flood whipped out the food source for its people. the people whom were left went to camps for shelter but they didnt have any or enough food. In many ways this article is similar to nectar because of some of the events the people went through. The mothers in the articel to just liek rukmani watch there children suffer from hunger. THey would try soothing them but they knew there was no wat they could get food for them. They had to deal with the cries of the children in the camps and just wait until something worked out. The belly's of the people were becoming extended. I think that the americans should bring food to all the places that are suffering from food scarcity so that other people can have a chance to lead healthy strong lives.

Breaking Dawn- change

In breaking dawn Bella and Edward get married and go on a honeymoon, during the time they are on the honeymoon Bella becomes pregnant. Both her and Edward thought it was impossible but it happened and so they only way to save Bella's life was to change her forever. Bella was changed into a vampire immediatly after giving birth to her baby girl. This changes her life beacause there are so many things that she can no longer do. And the biggest change is that she is no longer human. From reading Breaking Dawn I learned that the things you do can change you life for ever so unless you are readt dont do something that you know will cause you to loose another thing you can never get back. I also learned that changes in life arent always bad but sometimes they are for the people around you, always think befor you act because you never if you'll get the chance to go back.

" Some Find Hope For a Shift In Drug Policy"

"Some Find Hope For A Shift In Drug Policy" is an article about how drugs should not be tolerated as much as they are in Seattle. The article states that many times people will smoke marijuana in front or police officers and nothing is done about it. Some poeple say its just cause the police officers are being respectful, but is it really respect when others are being harmed from it. I think that if the problem becomes bigger and is continuosly getting pushed aside then marijuana will be banned all together. Meaning poeple who use it for medical purposes will no longer have that option. I also think that if we take care of the issue now we can eventually put and end to drug use beacause the less people who see the drug the less people know about it.

I decided to use the article that Ms.Jarrett posted called How India Reconciles Hindu Values and Biotech. This article talks about the way India has made such progress in stem cell research and about we amreicans need to catch up. It also mentions the reason behind why we are not as caught up as india in this area. I think that by trying to increase our knowledge in this area we will be able to save more lifes. I also think that by doing this we could come up wiht more cures because we would have the stem cells to practice on.

In the book Nector in a Sieve which i am reading in english 10. There is a pretty big difference in the role of each gender. The men are the providers; they do the farming in order to provide money and food for their families, they have a lot of pressure on them to stay strong for the family. I have learned that becacause one the of main characters in the book Nathan is starting to feel that he is helpless for his family and that he is not doing a good job at being the provider. The women have a lot more that is expected of them. They must be married off at a young age wiht the man there parents choose for them , they must clean, and have children and those children should be sons, they also must do most of the raising of their children, and they get less food then the rest of the family. Men and women in India have very different roles from each other but it seems that they do treat eachohter with some sense of respect.

In English 10 we are reading a book called Nector in a Sieve. It takes places in a village in India. Their way of life there is so much different the life that i live today. Int he book they do many things to keep their culture alive. For instance they have erranged marriges, the main jobs for men are farming, it is better to have sons rather than daughters, the women do most of the cooking and cleaning and raising of the children; daughters are sent away with a gift of a dowry and expected to have children. In my life i have to do some chores, go to school and do good things. There are some similarities though, in both cultures we have a firework type celebration once a year, we both do some type of chore maybe not to the same extent, and everyone has and needs a job. I am not ordered to have children when married and i have a say in the person whom i marry. My family doesnt work on a farm and try and base our life style of the change in the weather. Alothough very different both culuters are the same in the most important ways like the shareing of love, food, shelter, and care.

I have been reading the book Eclipse ( 3rd of the twighlight series) and Bella the main charcter has been trying to overcome a struggle. Her best friend is a werewolf and her boyfreind is a vampire. They both hate eachother but Bella loves both of them but in two differrent ways which is the probelm. Jake her bestfriend is in love wiht bella but she only sees him as a friend. He has been trying to win her over because deep inside he believes that Bella really loves him. This situation reminds me of a movie i watched called The Minute Men on disney channel about were two ex-best friends are after the same girl but one of the boys is dating her and the other is just his best friend. A diffrence between them and Edward (vampire) and Jacob (werewolf) is that they are not fairy tale like creatures they are human. A similarty between them is that in both stories there are two guys in love wiht one girl and both guys are not friends.

Sichuan Earthquake

Jacobs Andrew."Superstitions About Quake Meet the Web, Irritating the Chinese Authorities" New York Times. 16 May . 1 Febuary 2009. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/16/world/asia/16rumors.html?fta=y

First off an Earthquake is when the earths surface is shaking due to a violent movement of the rocky outer layer of the earth. This happens if the energy inside the earth is released , then earthquake waves transfer the energy to the center of the earth causing an earthquake. To break it down further faults are made in the earth which are places in the crust of the earth where the rocks have been moved which also causes the tectonic plates to move. The tectonic plate moving is very slow and it can take over a hundred years for the pressure to build up and finally be stronger than the rocks causing all that stored energy to be released. And BAM you have an earthquake. Things that humans can do to speed up this process are injecting fluids into deep wells for waste disposal, and firing underground nuclear test blasts. I read an article about a deadly earthquake in Sichaun Province that left animals flying and ponds draining and not to mention at least 3,000 people dead and some 4,500 missing.
